A STYLISH TRIBUTE TO THE V8 ENGINE
Designed by the Ferrari Styling Centre, the F8 Tributo is essentially a bridge to a new exterior design language. From the very earliest stages of the design process, the work focused on two goals simultaneously: designing a stylistic tribute to the Ferrari V8 engine, inspired by the most iconic mid-rear-engined V8 sports cars in Ferrari history, and giving the car a strong personality of its own through an even sportier design clearly inspired by the car's advanced aerodynamics.
A lot of attention was paid to ensuring that the Maranello marque's signature styling elements were respected even while seamlessly incorporating the aerodynamics elements into the design and then underscoring them with clear yet decisive lines.
The front of the car is characterized by the S-Duct around which the entire front end had been redesigned to highlight the extensive aerodynamic modifications made to this area of the car. The clearest example is new, more compact, horizontal LED headlights. Thanks to its more compact size, the classic L-shape is created not by the continuation of the headlights but by an aerodynamic intake.
The front is completed by side aerodynamic intakes which are integrated into the shape of the bumper and feature two aerodynamic side splitters in black which create a visual link rearwards behind the wheel and onto the exterior sill covers.
the car's flanks are dominated by the evident muscular forms of the front and rear wheelarches which give the impression that the bodywork has been tightly molded around the running gear with no space left over for non-functional stylistic motifs or voids. The shape of the side air intakes for the intercooler has been redesigned too, highlighting one of the most important stylistic motifs from Ferrari mid-rear-engined V8 history.
NEW COCKPIT-STYLE INTERIORS
The cockpit retains the classic, driver-oriented look typical of Ferrari's mid-rear-engined berlinettas. Every element of the dash, door panel and tunnel has been completely redesigned specifically for the car. The F8 Tributo also boasts a new generation steering wheel and steering wheel-mounted controls as well as new styling on the standard seats.
This section also incorporates the optional 7" touchscreen passenger-side display which provides an extra sporting touch. The dash is completed by the classic instrument cluster with its central rev-counter and the new-generation steering wheel and commands.
New round air vents are set in beautifully sculpted aluminium surrounds (also available in optional carbon-fibre) which cleverly underscore the dash structure. To emphasis the lightness of the whole assembly, the dash now incorporates an aluminium sail panel supporting the central satellite and continuing into the dash itself. Aldo to create a sense of visual lightness, a silver of carbon fibre divides the upper and lower parts, streamlining the whole look.
The new berlinetta is based on the same engine already used for other models in the range, with different power levels and awarded “International Engine of the Year” for 3 years running (2016, 2017, 2018), as well as being recognized as the best engine in the last 20 years.
The turbo lag has been completely eliminated: the F8 Tributo delivers the 720 hp in an instant and with a unique and engaging sound. The extremely high performance achieved by the car, thanks to unprecedented maneuverability, has been obtained with the integration of state-of-the-art aerodynamic solutions in the car's body, derived from competition experience.
The lines of the F8 Tributo have been carefully modelled by the Ferrari Style Centre, using a new design language, always strongly orientated towards sportiness and functional in terms of aerodynamic performance.
The car replaces the 488 GTB and significantly improves the main parameters: in addition to the engine, capable of delivering an additional 50 hp, the new Ferrari is 40 kg lighter and benefits from increased aerodynamic efficiency (+10%) and the new 6.1 version of Side Slip Angle Control.

0-100 km/h takes just 2.9 seconds. 0-200 km/h takes 7.8 seconds. Incredibly, that's only about a second slower to 200 km/h than the iconic, 963 cv LaFerrari. Top speed is 340 km/h. Lap times around Ferrari's Fiorano circuit are cut by 0.5 of a second, compared with the 488 GTB.
MAXIMUM POWER BOOSTED BY 50 CV
More performance - and more usable performance - were engineering priorities. The maximum power of the award winning twin-turbo V8, voted best engine of the past 20 years, has been boosted from 670 cv to 720 cv. There is no turbo lag and a majestic and soulful soundtrack that could only come from a Ferrari.
Just as important as ultimate performance is usable performance. The new F8 Tributo has a smooth and progressive power delivery and astonishing tractability helped by a boost in maximum torque, now 770 Nm. That's 10 Nm more than the 488 GTB, and the torque delivery has been modified to increase the sensation of acceleration right up to the red line, too.
Based on the 488 Pista engine, the new V8 uses weight saving components derived from Ferrari's motor racing expertise. These include F1-style titanium con-rods, lighter crankshaft and flywheel, and lnconel exhaust manifolds. Total weight saving for the engine alone is 18kg. The significant reduction in the rotating masses, such as the con-rods and crankshaft, give instant throttle response and astonishing acceleration
LIGHTER AND MORE AERODYNAMIC
The more powerful V8 maybe the most important part of the F8 Tributo's high performance story, but it's certainly not the only factor. The new car is 40 kg lighter and 10 percent more aerodynamically efficient, due to significantly higher downforce. So, it corners faster and handles better. Driver confidence, and driving speed, are both increased, as the car feels 'glued to the road'. Bodywork changes include solution borrowed from Formula One and already used on the 488 Pista.
MORE SOPHISTICATED SUSPENSION
The racing style suspension is more sophisticated, with greater cornering grip and precision. A slew of advanced electronic vehicle dynamics controls boosts the speed possible through turns and driving enjoyment. The latest version of Ferrari's innovative Side Slip Control (SSC) ensures that on the limit driving is accessible even to non professional drivers, making the F8 Tributo adjustable and responsive. Cornering performance is further enhanced by the new Ferrari Dynamic Enhancer (FDE), which uses subtle brake pressure to sharoen even further the handling for an even more involving driving experience.
These new electronic controls make the car quicker on the track, too. In the Race setting on the manettino control, the new F8 Tributo is six per cent faster coming out of bends than the 488 GTB with the same amount of steering wheel movement. In the CT-OFF position on the manettino - which cuts the traction control - steering wheel activity is reduced by 30 per cent with the same degree of oversteer.
The F8 Tributo is not only a fitting tribute to Ferrari's greatest V8 engine, it is also a car that offers truly astonishing performance. Just as importat, it flatters drivers with its amazing usability.
